Lee remick
Lee Ann Remick (Quincy, Massachusetts, December 14, 1935-Los Angeles, California, July 2, 1991) was an American television and film actress.
Biography
He was born in Quincy, a town near Boston, in the state of Massachusetts. His parents divorced him when he was still a few years old and he went to live with his mother in New York. At school she took acting classes and later studied acting at Barnard College and at the famous Actor's Studio. After finishing his studies, he began working in the theater and also on television.
In 1957 he landed his first film role, in the film A Face in the Crowd, by Elia Kazan. She later participated in another success, The Long, Hot Summer ( The long and warm summer ).
In 1959, she became a star with her leading role opposite James Stewart in Otto Preminger's Anatomy of Murder. In 1962 she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Leading Actress for her role as her wife who is pushed into alcoholism by her husband in Blake Edwards' Days of Wine and Roses, with Jack Lemmon..
In 1963 in the film, The Running Man (The price of a death). This film, co-starring British actor Laurence Harvey, would become a Hollywood legend, because it had become a commercial flop, because it had been released around the time of the assassination of President John F. After participating in other movies and television, in 1970 Remick went to live in England, where he participated in several films. In 1976 she is of special memory for her role as the wife of ambassador Robert Thorn played by Gregory Peck in the popular and classic horror film The Prophecy .
Back in the United States, he formed his own production company in 1988 with two partners, one of whom was the well-known actor James Garner. In recent years he has devoted himself mainly to television, for which he has made movies and mini-series. More than half of the films in which she appeared throughout her career were for television, a medium in which she was an especially popular and appreciated actress.
She was married twice. The first with Bill Colleran for eleven years, after which she divorced. The second with Kip Gowans for 21 years. From her first marriage, Remick had two children.
She died in Los Angeles on July 15, 1991 at the age of 55, suffering from liver and kidney cancer.
