Ectrosiopsis is a monotypic genus of herbaceous plants belonging to the Poaceae family. Its only species: Ectrosiopsis lasioclada, is native to from Australia and New Guinea.

Description

It is a perennial plant; tussock The culms reach a size of 30-40 cm high; herbaceous; not branched above. Unarmed plants with the leaves mostly basal, not auriculate. blades narrow; 2-2.5 mm wide (to 2 cm long, sometimes with tuberculate hairs); bristly, or not bristly; without abaxial multicellular glands; without venation. ligule present; in the form of a fringe of hairs. They are bisexual plants, with bisexual spikelets; with hermaphroditic florets; no hidden cleistogenes. Inflorescence paniculate; (elongated, 10-15 cm long).

Taxonomy

Ectrosiopsis lasioclada was described by (Merr.) Jansen and published in Reinwardtia 2(2): 268. 1953.

Etymology

Ectrosiopsis: Compound generic name meaning "similar to the genus Ectrosia".

lasioclada: Latin epithet meaning "woolly"
