LaGuardia Airport
The LaGuardia Airport (in English, LaGuardia Airport, IATA code: LGA, ICAO: KLGA) is an airport in Queens, New York, primarily serving New York City. It is 8 miles from downtown New York. Its name comes from a former mayor of New York, Fiorello LaGuardia.
It has two runways, 4/22 and 13/31, both of the same size (2,134 x 46 m).
This is New York City's primary domestic airport due to its centralized location and proximity to Manhattan. LaGuardia Airport is located across from Flushing Bay in Queens about 8 miles (13 km) from downtown Manhattan. However, the airport does not have customs or immigration services, and inbound and outbound flights exceeding 1,500 miles are not allowed, except on Saturdays or if it is a flight from Denver, due to the relationship between the two cities.. Therefore, most international flights are received at JFK or Newark airports.
Most flights departing from LaGuardia have destinations within the United States. However, there are a number of exceptions in cases where flights originate from airports that do have US customs, such as Ottawa and Toronto in Canada, Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas, and Bermuda.
