Kisame Hoshigaki (干柿鬼鮫 Hoshigaki Kisame) is a character from the manga and anime Naruto. He is one of the 12 members of the Akatsuki Organization, who was assigned several companions as mission allies, among his most notable companions being Itachi Uchiha, with whom he traveled much of his career. As a member of the organization he was given the ring 南斗 (なんと, Nanto, Star of the South), which he wore on his left ring finger.

He is known for murdering a feudal lord of the Country of Water and for being one of the 7 legendary swordsmen of the Hidden Village of the Mist. He has a cold personality, which can be compared to that of a shark, since he did not show any feelings after the death of his partner Itachi, nor did the news of the death of the Akatsuki leader, Nagato (Pain), make a great impression on him.

Description

Among its characteristics, an image similar to that of a shark stands out. To complement his image, his name Kisame has the meaning of Demon Shark. His skin is pale blue and he has white eyes and small pupils with a black shadow on his eyelids. His cheeks have markings that look like gills, his hair is short blue that extends beyond the protective band on his forehead. He is tall, measuring close to two meters.

He carries a huge bluish sword that has no edge, but rather has a large number of large, sharp scales, which is why he always carries it wrapped in bandages. His sword is called Samehada (鮫 肌 Shark Skin ) and is indeed made of shark scales. The function of this sword is not to cut an enemy, but to tear apart everything it touches. Furthermore, he is able to steal all the chakra of his rivals to give it to his wielder and thus make him stronger. The more chakra he gets, the more techniques he can perform, the only drawback is that since it is not his true strength, it returns to his original power. This sword also has a will of its own and has a kind of snout through which it can expel objects, and only allows Kisame to be the bearer of it.

Kisame is very violent and loves to fight. He is a master of water jutsu, creating enormous amounts of water even if he is far from the ocean. He possesses a massive amount of chakra, being recognized as the Akatsuki member with the most chakra, being compared to the power of the Bijū. At the beginning of the second part, when Neji sees him with his Byakugan, he says that he had not seen such an amount of chakra since he fought Naruto, who was using only 30% of his chakra.

History

Before joining Akatsuki, Kisame was one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. Already by then, Kisame was known for having a ruthless and pragmatic philosophy, as he demonstrated by annihilating his teammates to prevent them from leaking information to Konoha, as they were captured by a squad led by Ibiki Morino. He later murdered his own teacher upon learning that he was sending information to Konoha, thus taking over Samehada.

The Mizukage, Yagura, congratulated Kisame for his actions, but he seemed disappointed: he did not understand his role within the village and he did not understand the shinobi world either. Obito, who was controlling Yagura, revealed his Moon Eye Plan, prompting Kisame to join Akatsuki, making him one of its first members (except for its founding members: Obito, Nagato and Konan)..

After his defection from the Village Hidden in the Mist, Kisame was declared a traitor and included in the Bingo Book for his membership in Akatsuki.

Naruto

Kisame begins to team up with Itachi Uchiha, who had briefly teamed up with Orochimaru after entering the organization. His first appearance takes place in the first season, when he goes with Itachi Uchiha in search of the Kyūbi, sealed inside Naruto Uzumaki.

In this first attempt to kidnap Naruto to obtain the Bijū, they were forced to retreat, because the fight with Asuma Sarutobi, Kakashi Hatake, Kurenai Yūhi and Might Guy threatened to become a war against the entire Konoha village, where development. In this fight, Kisame brought down his sword against Asuma, revealing his quirks. After that encounter, they try to capture Naruto while he was traveling with Jiraiya. The sannin arrived in time and summoned the stomach of a mountain toad to trap the two Akatsuki members. Itachi, however, used Amaterasu for the first time in the play, with which they were able to escape from the stomach.

Naruto: Shippūden

In the second part of the anime, when Gaara's Shukaku was being extracted, he lent a third of his chakra so that the Akatsuki leader could recreate his appearance in one of his henchmen (a ninja from the Hidden Village of the Arena), in such a way that it could delay Might Guy and his team. Through this shapeshifting technique, the spy was able to take on Kisame's appearance and abilities, but was controlled by him, and since he only had a portion of his strength, he was ultimately defeated.

Later, Kisame captures the Yonbi's jinchūriki along with Itachi and displays it as a trophy on his Samehada. At that moment, they are summoned by Pain upon the news of Orochimaru's supposed death. After Orochimaru's defeat at the hands of Sasuke Uchiha, Kisame emerges as Suigetsu's target, along with his sword Samehada. In one of the organization's meetings, Kisame mentions that he met him ten years earlier, and that at that time it was said that he was the "successor" of the organization. by Zabuza Momochi.

When Deidara falls to Sasuke, Pain reports the loss of his partner and Tobi. Kisame then says that Tobi was the only one who could cheer up an organization like Akatsuki. Despite that, he mocks Deidara and doesn't even show respect or grief at the loss of him. Later, he and Itachi are out in the rain and Kisame questions a brooding Itachi about his younger brother. He asks if he is sad and Itachi replies no, since his brother is not dead. Later, Team Hebi, led by Sasuke, approaches the Uchiha lair to hold the last confrontation and Kisame appears to allow only Sasuke to pass and hold back the others. Although his objective is not to fight, Suigetsu is willing to engage in a fight and Kisame takes his Samehada, ready to face the battle (the fight between Kisame and Suigetsu is not shown, but both manage to escape with life and no apparent injuries).

Some time later, Kisame is seen talking to Tobi, he tells him that he regrets having deceived him and takes off his mask, showing his true face, which Kisame recognizes and tells him that it will be easier for him to do his job knowing that He is in charge and calls him "Fourth Mizukage" (Kage of the Village Hidden in the Mist) and also "Madara". He is then seen at the meeting that the aforementioned holds to declare the official union of Taka and Akatsuki, in which Kisame treats this group as inexperienced, for which Suigetsu attacks him, being stopped by Madara. During the meeting, Kisame is surprised by Sasuke's comment that Suigetsu would not be able to defeat him. Later, when they go to seal the Hachibi, Kisame complains that it will take longer with so few of them. Unfortunately for Akatsuki, the Hachibi was not fully captured, as he had used a technique to make one of his tails look like a clone. Tobi then tells Kisame to go capture the Hachibi.

Kisame tracks down Killer Bee thanks to Samehada. Given the enormous power and chakra of Bee in his Hachibi form, Kisame has to fuse with Samehada in order to heal from the wounds caused by B. Kisame uses his Suiton technique: Dai Bakusui Shōha to enclose B, Sabu and Ponta inside a gigantic dome of water. To prevent his companions from drowning, Bee throws Sabu and Ponta out of the dome, leaving him at Kisame's mercy. He took him out of the dome to finish him off, until he realizes that Samehada has become hostile to him and seems to be attracted to Killer Bee's chakra. Kisame then prepared to finish him off, but was stopped by the arrival of the Fourth Raikage. Between the Raikage and Bee they executed a joint Lariat that decapitated Kisame.

Some time later it is revealed that the Kisame who was killed by Bee and the Raikage was a clone of Zetsu. The real Kisame was hidden within Samehada (now in Killer Bee's possession) to infiltrate the Hidden Cloud Village, which he succeeds in doing. However, when Naruto manages to control Kurama's chakra he manages to detect his presence inside Samehada and Kisame is forced to reveal himself. Cornered by Naruto, Yamato and Killer Bee, Kisame is forced to flee and is also betrayed by his own sword Samehada, since it decided to go with Killer Bee due to the "taste" of his chakra, being chased by Might Guy. After stealing chakra from Killer Bee and Aoba Yamashiro, he prepares to confront Guy. This, who had opened the Seventh Gate, collides with Kisame's Suiton: Suikōdan no Jutsu, with Guy emerging as the winner. To prevent the shinobi from extracting his information, Kisame decided to commit suicide, locking himself in his water prison jutsu and then summoning three sharks and allowing himself to be devoured by them, while remembering what Itachi Uchiha once told him when he joined the Akatsuki., later when Guy, Yamato, Aoba, Naruto and Killer Bee try to find out the content of the scroll that he was trying to send to their leaders, they are unexpectedly caught in a ninjutsu trap: water prison and then the same scroll summons 5 sharks that quickly 4 of them enter the water prison jutsus where Naruto and the others were locked up, in order to distract them and the fifth shark takes the scroll and escapes from the island, carrying the scroll that he had stolen in Kumogakure, it is later revealed That same shark met Zetsu and handed him over.

Skills

The main weapon and ability of Kisame Hoshigaki's character was the use of the sword Samehada. A sword whose function was not to pierce or cut, but to tear and absorb chakra. As the sword absorbs chakra it begins to grow larger and its scales increase in size. Samehada can only be used by Kisame himself, since otherwise scales emerge from the sword to avoid being grabbed by another user. Kisame has the ability to fuse with Samehada, allowing him to breathe underwater and move at high speed.

The main element that the character uses for his techniques is the Water Element, being a great expert.
