Success

After Silverado (1984), he starred in No Way Out; but it was The Untouchables (1987), a film directed by Brian De Palma, that gave him the star label and Dances with Wolves (1990) that established him as such.. In 1991 he played prosecutor Jim Garrison in Oliver Stone's film JFK. He starred in The Bodyguard (1992) alongside Whitney Houston. In 1993 he starred in A Perfect World and a year later in Wyatt Earp with Dennis Quaid, films that were not very successful despite their enormous quality. He also starred in Waterworld (1995), a film that was harshly criticized by the American press. As a producer, he had to face the financial failures of the latter film and The Messenger of the Future (1997), which he directed and starred in.

On September 6, 2006, he made his mark at the famous Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. In 2013 he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for one of his best performances in the miniseries Hatfields & amp; McCoys, a series that broke pay-per-view records for a non-sports broadcast in the United States.

Personal life

Kevin Costner is the son of Bill Costner and Sharon Costner. He has an older brother named Dan. In his youth he was a great sportsman, as he excelled in baseball, basketball, American football and canoeing: he built a canoe himself and went up the Missouri River at only 18 years old. He graduated with a degree in business and got a high-paying job as a marketing director. But that job only lasted thirty days because he happened to be on a plane with the great British actor Richard Burton. Costner confessed that he had always wanted to be an actor. Burton's response was simple: "To be happy we must fight for our dreams." Right off the plane, Costner left his job and moved to Hollywood. His first jobs were as a trucker, fisherman and tour guide in the Bel-Air neighborhood. He started acting in movies in the year 1981.

In 2000 he met model Christine Baumgartner and married her in 2004. They have been the parents of three children: Cayden (2007), Hayes (2009) and Grace (2010).

The actor has been a partner in the environmental company Ocean Therapy Solutions, which works to prevent centrifuge contamination in the Gulf of Mexico. It is rumored that he has had problems with other partners in the company.
