Ken Akamatsu
Ken Akamatsu (赤松 健, Akamatsu Ken) is a Japanese mangaka born on July 5, 1968 in Kanagawa. He twice failed the entrance exam to the prestigious Tokyo University in the audiovisual studies section and ended up studying literature at Chūō University.
Like many Japanese cartoonists, he began by drawing dōjinshi for Comiket, under the pen name Awa Mizuno (水野亜和, Mizuno Awa), and later moved into commercial manga. Love Hina is the manga with which she became known to the world, although she had previously drawn AI Ga Tomaranai and Always My Santa .
Most of his works have ecchi scenes and, specifically, Love Hina and Magister Negi Magi can be considered "harem manga", since the protagonist is a boy surrounded by girls.
Akamatsu admits that his favorite character from Love Hina is Motoko Aoyama. She is 5'7" and could pass for a model. At first sight she is strong, but she enjoys drawing her because she also has a sensitive side and sometimes she breaks down crying.
The protagonist of Love Hina, Keitarô begins having twice failed the entrance exam to the University of Tokyo as happened to Ken in his own life.
