Keith Scott
Keith Douglas Scott (Vancouver, July 20, 1954) is a Canadian guitarist.
Biography
Keith Scott was born in Vancouver, Canada, on July 20, 1954 as Keith Douglass Scott. His parents were also musicians, his father played piano in a jazz band, and his mother sang occasionally. He also has three siblings, Ryan, Ellen and Lea-Anne. As a young man he had several jobs, such as a newspaper deliveryman, scoutmaster and gynecology assistant. As an introduction to the musical field, he began playing the flute in the orchestra of a school, where he was studying. After that, he leaned towards playing acoustic guitar, having it as a hobby, but he never took lessons (also at that time he was playing in a Catholic church). Around this time (more precisely, at 16 years old) he met Bryan Adams. When he was 17, he got a Fender Stratocaster, with which he would venture into the world of electric guitar and, in general, rock music (without forgetting, of course, his great influences in blues, rock'n';roll, country and other genres that he usually emphasizes), hence, his main influences, throughout his career (and which are very notable in him), have been inspired by the memorable Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, and, apart from Bryan Adams himself, he has also worked with many other artists and bands of international stature, such as Bryan Ferry, Tina Turner, Tom Cochrane, Glass Tiger, Odds, Bob Kemmis, Ready For The World, Carly Simon, Matthew Goode, Dion, Riley Melvin, Mick Ronson, Rita McNeil, Kim Kuzma, Anne Murray, David Bowie, Mae Moore, Bonnie Raitt and Cher, among others. He is married to a woman named Paula and has two daughters, Noa and Kimberly Wyatt.
Career
Before starting his career with Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, Keith began playing garage rock, and was part of Canadian bands such as Bowser Moon The Handley Page Group and Zingo, and played approximately 300 shows annually. and lucrative.
He met Bryan Adams in 1981, but it was only in 1983, on Bryan Adams' third studio album, titled "Cuts Like A Knife", in which Keith had his first recording participation.
Currently
Over the years, and with a long journey, Keith Scott has managed to establish himself as a legend for Bryan Adams fans, like Mickey Curry (drummer). Bryan Adams would not be what he is today without the active participation of Keith, since this guitarist is one of the fundamental parts of the Canadian's concerts, as well as on his albums. Among Adams fans, Scott is idolized. Both, along with Mickey Curry, are already a music band more than a simple international soloist.
With the retirement of two members of the band in 1999, keyboardist Tommy Mandel and bassist Dave Taylor, Keith Scott came to take control of the guitar, playing a complex generic role with it: thus, he had to carry rhythmic, soloing and performing chords and arpeggios (both in the studio and in concert, although in the studio it was very little, since, at this time, Bryan Adams did not have any album prepared, only the live release of two DVDs in 2000). Then, Bryan Adams was in charge of bass; Mickey on drums and finally Keith explained everything previously said (perhaps for this fact, Keith is so admired as a guitarist), of course, until the appearance of two new members for the band: Gary Beit and Norm Fisher (on keyboard and bass, respectively).
Musically
Scott has always been characterized by his great modesty and modesty when it comes to guitars; Above all, this fact is very visible in the studio recordings, for performing apparently 'simple' guitar solos, although very deep and even somewhat 'sentimental'. (sometimes even using minimal distortion on his guitars, or unusual pedal effects). In the concerts he holds with Bryan Adams, it is very common to find him making a good debut, thus, accompanying guitar rhythms, or harmonizing with chords and arpeggios. However, throughout recent years, great and memorable solos, very impressive, are characteristic of him in Bryan Adams' performances, especially on the songs "It's Only Love" and "Touch The Hand", songs in which he always innovates some solos that, according to his fans, make them "goosebumps". (and best of all, improvised). The most impressive thing about these debuts is the fact of the body expression that Keith shows when playing, so, for example, he puts the guitar on the back of his neck and plucks it there, he plays it with his tongue, he crosses the guitar between his legs, he lets it fall to the floor to play it lying down, he lifts it from the base, and he even throws the guitar transversally, so that it runs all over his body with the strap (marking something like a kind of "orbita"), to finally fall into a very vibrant rhythmic beat. These debuts are also common in the song "Kids Wanna Rock", in which Keith and Bryan make "talk" or "cry" the guitars. Keith handles excellent techniques that make him an enviable guitarist. His participation with the pen, the slide and the distortion pedal used on electric guitar is very noticeable (which gives proportionality of effects and tones).
Other projects
For a few years now, Keith Scott has maintained musical projects independent of those of Bryan Adams, but the most notable of all of them is the union he made a few years ago with Bryan Adams' also current drummer Mickey Curry, and with Mark Holden (bassist, founding member, in 1980, of the Canadian band Boulevard), to form a supergroup: The Fontanas.
Keith and Gretsch: "Two powerful men of music"
Thanks to the high profile that Keith Scott has maintained with Gretsch (an important guitar manufacturing company), since the beginning of his career as a professional musician he has had the fortune, among few guitarists, to launch a representative guitar on the market. this brand, which already has its name (and is made to its design). As such, it is a golden electroacoustic guitar, with certain gold plating, and a deep sound (with a certain air of the 50's), autographed by Scott himself, and with which this musician was shown in the video from "On a Day Like Today" (the first single from Bryan Adams' 1998 album), and at certain concerts. This is the G6120KS Keith Scott Nashville, which includes the signature and nib autographed by Scott himself (as an additional note, it can be clearly seen in the video for "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)& #34;, where Scott uses an orange Gretsch guitar, representing the American company).
