Kasukabe (春日部市, Kasukabe-shi?>) is a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. According to data from October 1, 2014, the city has an estimated population of 235,199 inhabitants and a density of 5,468.12 people per km². The total area is 37.83 km².

The city was founded on July 1, 1954, and prospered mainly thanks to a trade route, today its mayor is Ryozo Ishikawa. It is known outside Japan, for being the city where the characters and protagonists of the anime Lucky☆Star live and also Shinnosuke Nohara, the protagonist of the well-known animation series Crayon Shin-chan, he lives there in animation since its creator, the prestigious Yoshito Usui lived there until his death.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kasukabe's designation as a city, the city council has decided to grant the residence certificate to Shinnosuke Nohara (Shin-chan). It is not the first time that a fictional character has obtained such permission, since it was also granted to Astroboy in the city of Niiza, also in Saitama.
