John Francis Bongiovi Jr. (Perth Amboy, New Jersey, March 2, 1962), known by his stage name Jon Bon Jovi, is a musician, actor, American composer, philanthropist and record producer, recognized for being the vocalist and leader of the rock band Bon Jovi. Since 2009 he has been a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and since 2018 of the Hall of Rock and Roll Fame (in the latter as a member of Bon Jovi). Personal life

At a stop in Los Angeles during the 1989 New Jersey tour, Jon Bon Jovi secretly made a trip to Las Vegas. On the trip, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, born September 29, 1962. They were married on April 29, 1989 at the Graceland Wedding Chapel. Jon and Dorothea have four children: Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, born May 31, 1993; Jesse James Louis Bongiovi, born February 19, 1995; Jacob Hurley Bongiovi, born May 7, 2002; and Romeo Jon Bongiovi, born March 29, 2004.

Jon and his wife are a couple very committed to solidarity and helping those in need. Together they created the Soul Kitchen, a restaurant in New Jersey. The particularity of this space is that it is not mandatory to pay. Those who cannot pay can contribute in another way; for example, doing some task.

This initiative is part of a series of projects that include the construction of homes for deprived people and a center for adolescent mothers and their children, among others.

Acting in politics

Although voter registration indicates Jon Bon Jovi is not affiliated, he has endorsed and toured with many Democratic politicians. He contributed to the campaigns of Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election, John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election, and Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. In 2010, Obama appointed Jon Bon Jovi to the Community Solutions Council of the White House. There it has been charged with three key roles: recruiting leaders in the nonprofit, private, and philanthropic sectors to advance key policy goals; provide strategic input and recommendations to help the federal government promote greater innovation and cross-sector collaboration; and honor and highlight those who make a significant impact in their own communities.
