John Franklin Enders (1897-1985): Born in West Hartford Connecticut, USA. He completed all his studies at Harvard University, where he received his doctorate with a thesis on Bacteriology and Immunology. He specializes in Virology, with special dedication to bacterial resistance, especially tuberculosis. He is awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1954 (for his development of the polio vaccine), shared with Thomas H. Weller and Frederick C. Robbins.
