John Baez

John C. Báez (June 12, 1961) is an American mathematician who works on loop quantum gravity and the applications of category theory to physics.

He has a strong presence on the internet, where he is known for This Week's Finds in Mathematical Physics, his (nominally) weekly compilation of abstracts of articles that he posts on various newsgroups and the files on their website (see external link below).

He is the nephew of doctor Albert Báez. He is not to be confused with singer Joan Báez, his first cousin and Albert's daughter.
