Jiraiya

Jiraiya (自来也, Jiraiya^?) is a fictional character from the manga and anime Naruto, created by Masashi Kishimoto.

Her name literally meant young thunderer, which is a description of her personality; reserved, appearing and disappearing from Konoha at any time. It could also be a reference to his habit of observing girls to write his novels or how strong he is when it comes to fighting as shown in the manga and anime.^{[citation required ]}

Both his name and those of Tsunade and Orochimaru come from the Japanese novel The Legend of Jiraiya the Gallant (Japanese: 児雷也豪傑物語 Jiraiya goketsu monogatari).

History

Jiraiya is a former student of the Third Hokage. Jiraiya and his previous teammates, Orochimaru and Tsunade, are known as the "Legendary Three Sannin". or "Densetsu no Sannin". Later, Jiraiya became the sensei jōnin of Minato Namikaze (future fourth Hokage). His favorite phrase is "free spirit."

When Minato becomes Hokage, he decides to name his son Uzumaki Naruto after the protagonist of the Sannin's first book, called "The Story of the Bold Ninja", since according to Minato it is a pseudo-autobiography of Jiraiya and likes the attitude of the protagonist, which makes Jiraiya the godfather of Naruto.

As a child, Jiraiya developed a close, though not without rivalry, friendship with Orochimaru. But when he betrayed Konoha years later and fled the Village, Jiraiya chased after him, trying to convince his good friend to come back. Orochimaru refused the offer and attacked Jiraiya, leaving Konoha forever. It is known that he has a lot of money, as Jiraiya's checkbook reveals that he is quite rich (Naruto said that he had quite a few zeros) all due to being the author of a best-selling book series known as icha icha. Despite his abundance, Jiraiya does not like to buy meals or lend money, even going so far as to take it from Naruto and then running away when Naruto tries to get it back.

Part One

Chunin Exam

During Naruto's [nine-tailed fox chakra] training with Ebisu in a bathhouse, Ebisu finds Jiraiya spying on women. When Ebisu tries to berate Jiraiya, Jiraiya summons a toad and immediately knocks out Ebisu. Naruto demands Jiraiya to become Ebisu's replacement. Although he refuses at first, Naruto's persistence and his erotic technique (Oiroke no Jutsu) finally persuade Jiraiya.

During his training, Jiraiya discovers that Orochimaru had modified the nine-tailed fox's original chakra seal within Naruto, making it difficult for Naruto to perform jutsu. Initially, Naruto only manages to summon tiny and useless tadpoles, taking a whole month to practice the technique, without much progress. Although Jiraiya tries to explain to Naruto that in order to make a successful invocation he would need the chakra of the nine-tailed fox, Naruto was unable to voluntarily access this power, so Jiraiya deduces that his own body rejected that energy out of self-indulgence. -protection.

Tsunade's Quest

After the death of the Third Hokage, the village elders ask Jiraiya to become the Fifth Hokage. Jiraiya declines the offer, instead promising to find Tsunade, who he thinks would do a better job as Hokage. Jiraiya takes Naruto with him, claiming that he needs his help by offering to meet a voluptuous woman (it shows that he is even perverted with his childhood friend) but also wanting to protect Naruto against Akatsuki who want Kurama who is sealed inside. he. During Tsunade's last fight with Orochimaru, Jiraiya is drugged and finds it very difficult to help Tsunade, and also halves the power of his techniques several times. After finally forcing Orochimaru and Kabuto to flee, largely due to Tsunade's efforts, she accepts the position of Hokage.

Sasuke's Quest

After Naruto's failed attempt to stop Sasuke Uchiha before he left Konoha, Jiraiya tries to convince Naruto to forget about Sasuke, remembering his own experiences with Orochimaru and not wanting Naruto to go through the same sadness.. Naruto said that he would be happier wasting his time if it meant Sasuke going back to Konoha. Jiraiya offers Naruto to train him for two and a half years to get stronger, Naruto accepts, and Jiraiya says they'll come back when Naruto is ready. In the anime Jiraiya tricks Naruto by leaving him a scroll with his techniques written on it but it was fake and he leaves Konoha to Gather information from Akatsuki. After many missions he comes back and leaves with Naruto like in the manga.

Anime filler

During this part the intentions of the Akatsuki organization begin to be shown, this part also shows part of Jiraiya's life, how he argued with Tsunade and Orochimaru when they were children and how he saved the village. Finally it is seen how Naruto and Jiraiya leave to train. Part Two

Return to Konoha

Jiraiya teaches Naruto how to more easily use the nine-tailed fox's chakra. In doing so, Jiraiya is for a second time in his life brought to the brink of death, with Naruto in his four-tailed fox form being too much for Jiraiya to control. In order to properly control him in this form, Jiraiya created the Seal of Submission to suppress the fox's chakra. When Naruto returns to Konoha, Jiraiya disappears so he can investigate the Akatsuki, his whereabouts and intentions.

Jiraiya vs. Pain

The time that Jiraiya spends investigating leads him to the conclusion that the Akatsuki leader is in the Hidden Rain Village, although he doesn't know other things about him, so he decides to go and confront him. conversation with Tsunade, in which she expresses her concern towards her former partner, in this talk it is also revealed that Naruto's father is indeed the Fourth Hokage, named Minato Namikaze. Then Jiraiya infiltrates the rain village thanks to one of her toads, but Pain detects him.

He uses a transformation jutsu to trick two of Pain's subordinates and forces them to tell him everything they know about the Akatsuki leader and remembers how Salamandra Hanzō, former and feared leader of the Hidden Rain Village gave him he and his companions the title of sannin. He decides to fight against Pain and summons a scroll-shaped toad which he calls his warehouse, and in which is kept the key to strengthen or weaken the seal that he locks up Kyūbi. He tells her that if anything happens to him, he should give it to Naruto. He says that he suspects that Minato Namikaze locked Kurama in his son for some purpose, and that he believes that Madara Uchiha summoned the fox when he attacked the village, although he does not know why.

Later, using a jutsu to manipulate the body of Pain's subordinate, he decides to go face him, but runs into Konan, interrogating her about what she knows about the Akatsuki leader, after a short battle he comes to the conclusion that the leader is another of his former students and remembers when she, Nagato and Yahiko asked him and their fellow sannin to train them, he being the only one who took care of them and trained them.

Pain makes his appearance in front of Jiraiya, who identifies him as Nagato. He then uses a new technique (RajinShigami no jutsu) that gives his hair the appearance of a lion and traps Pain so he can question him. Pain explains to Jiraiya that he wants to use the Bijū to create a technique of great destructive power to speed up wars and end them at once, giving rise to an era of peace, of which he would be his god. Pain escapes from the restraint and summons a kind of chameleon with a snake for a tail, to which Jiraiya responds by summoning Gamaken, another member of the toad family.

Later, Jiraiya joins with the 2 toads (Ma and Pa) and uses hermit mode, to reach his most powerful form.

In hermit mode (仙人モード) Jiraiya can wield powerful Senjutsus, which are impressive upgrades to his main techniques, shows Senjutsus such as the Cho Odama Rasengan, Needle Cannon, Deep Fry, Fire Release: Giant Blast and Earth Release: Hell Swamp. When his eyes close, he remembers his whole life and is disappointed because he couldn't get the things he wanted, always rejected by Tsunade, unable to protect his teacher (Sarutobi) or his student (Minato) and unable to bring his friend.
