Jimmy Cooper is a character from the series The O.C., played by Tate Donovan.

Jimmy Cooper was a broker who invested the money of many of his wealthy Newport Beach neighbors. But there is a time when the stock market falls, something that makes you lose a lot of money. He borrows money from his clients, which will cause him to commit a crime, only to later have to declare bankruptcy. Luckily, he is defended by his neighbor and later his friend Sandy Cohen (lawyer), who is a lawyer, thanks to which he manages to escape from jail. In exchange, he has to return all the money, to which is added that his wife divorces him.

Jimmy moves into an apartment near the beach. Together with Sandy Cohen, he decides to create a restaurant. However, they do not obtain a license to sell alcohol, something that triggers the sale of the restaurant through the mediation of Caleb Nichol, the father of Kirsten Cohen. With all the money he earns, he buys a yacht and lives there.

In the second season, a relationship with Kirsten's sister, Hailey, deepens. The two live on the ship and spend the day drunk. One day, Hailey leaves for Tokyo to work, and he is left alone. He then starts a relationship again with his ex-wife, Julie Cooper. One day they are caught by his daughter, Marissa Cooper, and decide to leave him to go sailing for a company in Mali.

Caleb, his ex-wife's husband, dies, and due to his many financial problems, Jimmy decides to return. He looks for Julie and they await the reading of the will, but they realize that Caleb was bankrupt and left nothing to anyone. Jimmy tries to run but is intercepted by a creditor and ends up beaten up.

About to marry Julie again, he stands her up at the wedding.
