Jill Clayburgh (New York, April 30, 1944 - Lakeville, Connecticut, November 5, 2010) was an American actress. She was awarded as the best actress at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival, for her role in A Married Woman. She was nominated for an Oscar on two occasions, for her roles in An Unmarried Woman and Begin Again (1979). She appeared in films such as The Chicago Express , The Moon or Distant Lives .

Trajectory

He went to the best schools thanks to his family's good financial situation. In one of them she made the decision to be an actress. She studied and learned to act at Boston's famous Charles Street Repertory Theater and she moved back to New York in the late 1960s, where she acted in several Broadway plays.

In 1970 Clayburgh began his film career with minor roles, but already in 1972 he landed his first major role. A few years later, in 1976, she became a famous actress thanks to her performance in A Married Woman, for which she earned an Oscar Award nomination. In 1979 she was nominated for an Oscar again, for her performance in Starting Over . After a new success in 1982, her film career declined because she did not receive suitable offers.

Since then, he has appeared in low-budget movies, but has worked extensively and successfully in movies and mini-series for television. She has also continued to act regularly in the theater, a medium in which she has always had solid recognition from the public and critics. Clayburgh was Al Pacino's romantic partner for five years. In 1979 she married David Rabe and had two children.

She passed away at the age of 66 from leukemia at her home in Salisbury, Connecticut.
