Jesus Vazquez

Jesús Vázquez Martínez (Ferrol, La Coruña, September 9, 1965) is a Spanish television presenter and former singer. He is mainly known for the numerous programs presented on Telecinco.

Biography

Jesús Vázquez was born in Ferrol in 1965 into a middle class family. He completed his first studies at the English Nursery School of the London Institute in Ferrol, going on to finish his high school and COU at the Colegio San Agustín in Madrid, where he moved with his family, since his father was assigned to the capital. He studied Veterinary Medicine until the third year, but he left it and then studied Dramatic Art. At the beginning of the nineties he achieved some fame by presenting The fifth march (1990-1991) and Talking is understood the basca (1991-1993), both programs broadcast on Telecinco.

Coinciding with that period of great popularity, he recorded the film Here he who does not run, flies (1992), by Ramón Fernández, produced by Telecinco, and in which, together with established actors such as Alfredo Landa or Arturo Fernández, shared filming with other budding stars of the television network such as Arancha del Sol or Natalia Estrada.

In 1993 he recorded A two millimeters scarce from your mouth with which he obtained a Gold Record, although this musical foray would not continue. Two years later he made his stage debut alongside Gemma Cuervo in The importance of being called Ernesto.

In 1998 he presented Apósito on Canal Sur and between 1999 and September 2000 he presented the successful celebrity contest Gente con spark, broadcast by several regional television stations. The program continued thereafter presented by Javier Cárdenas. In 2000 he had a brief stint on Antena 3 with La central , a failed late night that was intended to compete with Crónicas Marcianas , by Javier Sardá. In the summer of 2001 he was hired by Telemadrid to present the youth talk show Esta es mi gente. In 2002 he combined this task with the presentation of the musical competition Popstars: todo por un día /i> that aired during the summer months on Telecinco.

In January 2003 he permanently left Telemadrid to present Nobody is perfect on Telecinco, an interview program with characteristics similar to that of the regional network, which did not have the same success and was canceled after three weeks of broadcast. In 2003, also on Telecinco, he was the host of Gran Hermano (El Debate) , Hotel Glam and Vivo Cantando . In 2004 he presented Big Brother VIP and in 2005 Big Brother VIP 2 . Later he presented the reality shows Operación Triunfo (2005-2010) and Survivientes (2006-2010). Furthermore, between 2004 and 2008 he was in charge of the contest ¡Allá tú! in the afternoons of Telecinco.

In addition to Operación Triunfo and Survivientes, in 2007 he presented the contest Nobody is perfect, and in 2009 Guerra de sesos, along with Almudena Cid, and My family against everyone. That same year he was awarded a TP de Oro for best entertainment program presenter.

In 2010, he presented his latest edition of Operación Triunfo, on Telecinco, Supervivientes, I love Escassi and a contest in the afternoons of weekend called La Guillotina. In Survivors he was the protagonist of a controversy when he expelled José Manuel Parada from the set on June 10, 2010 for having reminded him of the Arny Case. The news was picked up in the national press the next day.

After the merger of Telecinco with Cuatro, both companies agreed that Jesús would become part of the Cuatro staff, where on January 10 he began to present the second stage of Allá tú!, successful contest that he already presented on Telecinco. Starting in the summer of 2011 he presents One to win a test program of different styles with a prize of 500,000 euros. In September of the same year, he became the new race director of Pekín Express in its fourth Spanish edition. Since September 2012 he has presented the talent show titled La Voz , on Telecinco.

In February 2013, he was confirmed as a presenter for the program Look who jumps!, on Telecinco. In April of the same year, he confirmed at the press conference of the program Mira qué jump! that he was going to be the presenter of the Spanish version of La Voz Kids which Telecinco has been broadcasting since 2014.

From September 2014 to October 2015, he presented the talent show and adaptation of Little Giants on the Telecinco network.

During the second half of the 2010s he remained one of the most popular presenters on the Mediaset España networks, being in charge of various formats such as the children's talent show Levántate (2015), along with judges Ruth Lorenzo, Pedro García Aguado and Niña Pastori; Bullying Project (Four), aired in the summer of 2016; Got Talent Spain (in this case as a jury, between February and April 2016); Get Up All Stars (2015-2016); You tell me it or you sing it to me (2017); X Factor (2017); Bake Off España (2019) and the dating show I stay with you (2019) andIdol Kids (2020 -present).

Private life

Since November 2005, she has been married to Roberto Cortés, whom she met in 2001. It was one of the first marriages between people of the same sex in Spain.

On July 18, 2008, he became the first Spanish UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.

In June 2010, he was the first man to appear, naked, on the cover of Interviú magazine.

In March 2023 he became the first oldest Spanish man to star on the cover of the magazine "Men's health"
