Jacqueline Bisset (born Winifred Jacqueline Franser Bisset, Surrey, United Kingdom, September 13, 1944) is a British film actress. She is the winner of a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or TV Movie for the miniseries Dancing on the Edge.

Biography

His mother, who was French, was a lawyer. As a child, she took ballet classes and attended school at the French Lyceum in London. When Jacqueline was 15 years old, her mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis that prevented her from leading a normal life. Her parents divorced her and she decided to stay with her mother, in order to assist her and take care of her. At that time she began her acting studies. At the same time she worked as a photo model.

She managed to be hired for small roles in several films, until in 1967 she was chosen to play a brief role in Two for the Road, along with Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn. She then took part in Casino Royale , the famous James Bond film.

In 1968 Mia Farrow, who was going through a time of personal difficulties, left the filming of The Detective and Jacqueline got the role. Her next film was Bullitt, starring opposite Steve McQueen. A few years later, in 1972, she acted under the direction of François Truffaut in The American Night, which earned her the definite interest of the public and European film directors.

Her participation in Abismo (1977) alongside Robert Shaw and Nick Nolte, earned her the qualification of "most attractive actress of all time", given by the magazine Newsweek following scenes in which she was swimming wearing nothing but a T-shirt.

Shortly thereafter, he starred in Rich and Famous, with Candice Bergen, and Under the Volcano, with Albert Finney. For the latter, shot in 1984, she was nominated for a Golden Globe, an award for which she had already been nominated in 1979 for Who killed the great chefs?

She was also nominated for a César Award for her role in the French film The Ceremony directed by the great Claude Chabrol.

Throughout his career he has worked with such famous directors as the aforementioned François Truffaut, John Huston, George Cukor and Roman Polański, among others. In addition to working in film, Bisset has also acted in various television movies, especially since the 1990s, some of which have been highly successful. One of the roles with which he has been able to become more familiar is the character of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, which she has played both in film and on television.

Jacqueline Bisset is known as an actress who spares no time to sign autographs, even personalized ones, for her fans. She has never been married, but she has had love affairs with various men, which have often been widely reported in the media, such as actor Michael Sarrazin and Russian dancer Alexander Godunov.

Jacqueline Bisset was in 2010 the image of a well-known North American cosmetics brand, for the launch of an anti-aging treatment for women over 60 years of age. In Jacqueline's words: "I don't hide my age, my skin does." This is how the advertising campaign of the Avon brand for the ANEW Platinum line was defined, where Jacqueline defined herself as a woman who wears her age with distinction and elegance.
