Traditional Nayarit Sweet Istete

The Istete or Ixtete is a regional sweet from the state of Nayarit (Mexico).

Small pieces are cut with a machete and served with a lemon. Its consistency is solid at room temperature but with heat it melts easily, so it can be said that it has a consistency similar to that of a taffy. Its main flavors are honey (main ingredient), guava, vanilla, walnut, strawberry and chocolate.

Currently this sweet is difficult to find even in Nayarit, although it is possible that they also make it in neighboring states, such as Jalisco.
