The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, AIMPGN is an organization created by Soviet and American doctors and medical organizations in the times of the cold war for the prevention of nuclear war and disarmament of nuclear weapons. The AIMPGN, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985 and is now present in more than 60 countries, was founded in 1980 by doctors Bernard Lown (United States) and Evgueni Chazov (Soviet Union).

The priority programs and campaigns of the AIMPGN are the following:

  • Campaign for a Nuclear-Weapon-Free World
  • Preventive: International Campaign to Prevent Violence with Minor Weapons
  • Research, education, and defense of the connection between peace and health

The AIMPGN defines itself as an independent federation of national medical organizations from 58 countries, representing tens of thousands of physicians, medical students, healthcare workers and citizens committed to the common goal of creating a safer and more peaceful world. free from the threat of nuclear annihilation.
