Iñaquito (parish)

Iñaquito is one of the 32 urban parishes of the city of Quito, Ecuador, located northwest of the city. The parish was previously called Benalcázar, in honor of the Spanish conqueror who founded the city in 1534, Sebastián de Belalcázar; Today it is officially called Iñaquito, the ancestral name of the area since times when it was inhabited by the Quitus.
In the parish are the financial and banking center of Amazonas Avenue and the business district of República de El Salvador Avenue, several of the most important shopping and entertainment centers, and La Carolina Park. In addition, its territory houses the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium, considered the most important sports venue in the country, home of the Ecuadorian soccer team and headquarters of the Deportivo Quito, El Nacional and Universidad Católica teams.
