Ifugao
Ifugao (ifugao: Ipugo or Ipugaw) is a province in the Philippines whose capital is Lagawe. It belongs to the region of La Cordillera. It limits to the north with La Montaña, to the south with Nueva Vizcaya, to the east with Isabela and to the west with Benguet.
Administrative divisions
It is politically divided into 11 municipalities that group its 175 barangays. It consists of a single congressional district.

History
The Spanish government established itself in Kiangan. The province of La Montaña was established on August 18, 1908. Ifugao, along with Amburayan, Apayao, Benguet, Bontoc, Kalinga and Lepanto, are part of this new province. Captain Pedro Bulan was its first governor.
On June 18, 1966, the province of La Montaña was divided into four provinces of the Ilocos region:
- Benguet.
- The Mountain.
- Kalinga - Apayao.
- Ifugao.
Ifugao Sub-province
Mount Polis (1.940 m s. n. m.) in the north and west forms the sub-provinces of Benguet and Lepanto in the west and Bontoc in the north. Mount Pulag at 2,924 meters is the highest peak in Luzon, surpassed only by Mindanao's Mount Apo. The mountains cover the two western thirds, descending the eastern third, practically uninhabited, to the bed of the Magat river, one of the most fertile places in the Archipelago, suitable for the production of tobacco, where Christians and apayaos agree.
This subprovince had a surface area of 2,012 km² and had a population of 66,574 inhabitants distributed in 3 municipalities and 191 neighborhoods. Its capital was Kiangan, with 275 inhabitants. The remaining municipalities were the following: Banaue and Mayoyao.
Rice culture
The terraces built by the Ifugao people are used to grow rice, around this crop, they still grow rice and vegetables, the culture of this people revolves around. The rice terraces of the Philippine mountain ranges are a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 and endangered between 2001 and 2012.
