Hurricane Frances was the sixth named tropical storm in the Atlantic in 2004. Frances reached a maximum force of 233 km/h (Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Scale). The eye of the hurricane passed through the island of San Salvador and very close to the cat island in the Bahamas and its external parts also affected Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands.[1] Frances then passed through the central section of the US state of Florida, quickly over the Gulf of Mexico, and then back to Florida. It affected the central regions of Florida just three weeks after Hurricane Charley, which was one of the costliest in history (nearly $7 billion in damage). Frances then moved towards Georgia where it was reduced to a tropical depression before disappearing.

as a result of the damages, the name of "Frances" was withdrawn and replaced by "Fiona" for the 2010 season.

Impact

Route de Frances.

2 deaths were reported in the Bahamas, 10 in Florida and 2 in Georgia. It caused extensive damage to a vehicle assembly plant and the Kennedy Space Center.
