The term hominin is related to human evolution and has the following uses:

  • Hominidae, as a biological family, used in the most up-to-date classifications and grouping the great apes (chimpanzee, bondage, gorilla and orangutan) and including the human being.
  • Equivalent to Hominine, grouping the bipedal primates of which their only current species is Homo sapiens. This use of the term Hominid is old, generalized and employed even today.
  • Hominid, novel by Austrian writer Klaus Ebner in 2008.
