Doubtful eruptions
These are eruptions described in documents from European navigators who visited the islands during the 14th century. However, these eruptions are considered doubtful by modern authors.
- Eruption of 1341: First historical eruption according to references of Genoese sailors who wrote it in their diaries.
- Eruption from 1393-1394: Second historical eruption according to references of Vizcaino seafarers. It is not considered reliable.
- Taoro Eruption (1430): The date of this eruption is only known through the news provided by Jean-Charles de Borda and Alexander von Humboldt, who said they had collected them from the oral tradition of the guanches. However, modern studies place it 30,000 years ago. It took place in the valley of La Orotava through a fissure with three mouths: mountain of the Gañanías, mountain of the Frailes and mountain of the Horca or the Arenas.
