Hipólito Yrigoyen (Misiones)

Hipólito Yrigoyen is an Argentine town and municipality in the province of Misiones located within the San Ignacio department. The town is a thin succession of houses located along three roads, one is National Route No. 12, the other is a 6 kilometer road that begins and ends on National Route No. 12 (Avenida San Martín), the other runs perpendicular to the two previous routes (Avenida Belgrano). Route 12 (paved) is its main communication route, linking it to the southwest with Santo Pipó and Posadas, and to the northeast with Jardín América, from which it is only 5 kilometers away.
The municipality was created in 1953. Its economy focuses on traditional crops in the area such as yerba mate and tobacco, although forestry and onion cultivation are becoming more important.
It had a population of 2,187 inhabitants in 2010, of which 1,271 resided in the urban agglomerate. The Eva Perón neighborhood is another urban agglomerate in the town, located on the RN12 6 km southwest of the main town.
The main settlement is located along the old route of the RN12, a small sector was developed on the current route paved in 1970.
