Hero (1992 film)
Hero (Accidental Hero in Argentina and Accidental Hero in Spain) is a comedy-dramatic film Directed by Stephen Frears and starring Dustin Hoffman, Geena Davis, Andy Garcia, Chevy Chase and Joan Cusack. It was released in the United States on October 20, 1992.
Synopsis
A passenger plane makes an emergency landing before the eyes of Bernie Laplante (Dustin Hoffman). Although he is indifferent to everything, he enters the plane and saves many passengers, losing a shoe in the process. He then disappears, because he is involved in many judicial troubles. When his car breaks down, he is picked up by John Bubber (Andy García), to whom he tells what happened and tells him that he does not want to be a hero, since his philosophy is to "fly under the radar";. Since his remaining shoe is useless without the missing one, he leaves it to her to give to a homeless acquaintance who is missing a leg.
A television network, through journalist Gale Gayley (Geena Davis), begins a search for the hero who saved lives and offers a million-dollar reward. What is Bernie's astonishment when, from jail where he is due to traffic in stolen credit cards, he sees Bubber on television posing as the hero and collecting the important prize money, because the chain, seeing that he had the shoe, he takes it as proof that this was the hero.
