Hermann Müller ( listen, May 18, 1876-March 20, 1931) was a German social democratic politician who was Minister of Foreign Affairs (June 21, 1919 - March 27, 1920), and who served as Chancellor of Germany (head of Government) on two occasions (his first government lasted between on March 27 and June 21, 1920, and its second between June 28, 1928 and March 27, 1930), under the Weimar Republic. As foreign minister, he was one of the German signatories to the Treaty of Versailles in 1919.

Second government

The second Müller cabinet, the last parliamentary cabinet of the Republic of Weimar.

His second cabinet was the last cabinet supported by a parliamentary majority. Coalition government had to face the worsening of the economic crisis that greatly increased unemployment. Given the disagreement between government partners about the policy to be followed to address the growing number of unemployed, Müller had to resign.

Since its fall, the federal governments carried out their work relying more and more on the powers of the president of the republic.
