Gustavo Adolfo Polidor González (Caracas, Venezuela, October 26, 1961-ibidem, April 28, 1995), known as Gus Polidor, was a Venezuelan athlete, baseball player, Major League Baseball shortstop who played with the California Angels (1985-88), the Milwaukee Brewers (1989-90) and the Florida Marlins (1993).

Excelling on defense, Polidor also had a good batting average. His best season was in 1987 with the California Angels, where he hit.263 average. His career average was.207.

In Venezuela, he belonged to the staff of the Tiburones de La Guaira since 1980, when he won the "Rookie of the Year" award. He was one of the strongholds of the so-called "guerrilla"; of the team in the 1980s.

Polidor dies in Caracas in 1995 at the age of 33, when they tried to kidnap his son after stealing his vehicle. His murderers were tried in 2004 and sentenced to 25 years in prison. On July 26, 2018, he was killed by the CICPC alias & # 34; El Hernancito & # 34; material author of the death of the big league and protagonist of the famous kidnapping.

As a posthumous tribute, the number 14 of his jersey with the Tiburones de La Guaira was retired.
