Güneli Gün is a Turkish English-language writer. She is a professor at Oberlin University, in the state of Ohio, United States. She is the author of Libro de trances ( Book of Trances , 1979) and Camino de Bagdad ( On the Road to Baghdad , 1987). She regularly collaborates with the magazines Paris Review and World Literature Today , and has translated works by prominent Turkish authors, such as Orhan Pamuk or Bilge Karasu, into English. Her work combines the oriental tradition of One Thousand and One Nights with the North American postmodern narrative of authors such as John Barth.
