Guillermo Capetillo (Mexico City, April 30, 1958) is a retired Mexican actor and bullfighter. He rose to fame as a soap opera heartthrob in the 1980s.

Biography

He grew up in the bullfighting and artistic environment of his father Manuel Capetillo. In 1977 he made his debut as a bullfighter at the age of 19 in Plaza México. He took the alternative in San Luis Potosí, being his godfather Manolo Martínez and José Mari Manzanares as a witness.

Like his father, Guillermo began a career as an actor. He rose to fame with the popular telenovela Los ricos también lloran (1980), where he played the son of Verónica Castro. This telenovela was broadcast in 120 countries, and is considered one of the best of its kind, launching Guillermo to stardom. He also played one of Lucía Méndez's sons in the telenovela Colorina (1980).. He combined both races, confirming his alternative on October 9, 1984 in Plaza México, being his godfather Rafael Gil Rafaelillo and Ernesto Belmont as witness. He was famous for his roles as a leading man and worked alongside Victoria Ruffo in La Fiera (1984) whose last episode was an audience record. He repeated with Verónica Castro in the telenovela Wild Rose (1987). His fame led him to make a foray into music, publishing Woman (1982), produced by Bebu Silvetti, Once More Love (1987), produced by the Italian DiFelisatti, and to participate in the album Esta navidad (1987).

As part of his career as a bullfighter, on January 30, 1994, he carried off on his shoulders in Plaza México, cutting off two ears and a tail of Gallero from the Cerro Viejo cattle ranch in Jalisco, which has been a one of the most complete and aesthetic tasks within a discreet and irregular trajectory. He was already retired from the bullring, but in 2008 he resumed what has been his great passion, his bullfighting career, at the age of 50. He announced his withdrawal in 2014 in Plaza México to return later. Throughout his acting career, he has participated in dozens of television and film productions, moving away from the sets in 2015 after more than 30 years in the profession.
