Gu ta gutarrak
Gu ta gutarrak (We and ours, in Basque) is a humorous science fiction story, in Spanish, written by the Argentine mathematician Magdalena Mouján Otaño and in which the paradoxical conclusion of a trip by a group of Basques in a time machine is narrated. He won first prize in the short story contest of the Second Science Fiction Convention of the Argentine Republic, in Mar del Plata, in July 1968.
In 1970, the Spanish magazine Nueva Dimensión published the story in its number 14. Despite having been submitted for Pre-Deposit, and its distribution having been duly approved, a few days later the The Public Order Court ordered the number to be withdrawn from circulation, considering that Mouján Otaño's story contravened the second article of the Press Law, the work of the Minister of Information and Tourism, Manuel Fraga Iribarne. complaint, Gu ta gutarrak attempted against the unity of Spain. Consequently, after the precautionary seizure of number 14, the pages of the story were replaced by several Johnny Hart comics gathered under the title Formicology, in order to continue selling them. The trial against Nueva Dimensión did not take place, but the case caused great controversy in the international fandom. One hundred issues later, in the July-August 1979 issue, Nueva Dimensión published the story again, as a reminder of these events and as reparation against its author.
