Ground

With the word Grond we can refer to several different things:

• to two objects called Grond in the fictitious work of J. R. R. Tolkien:
  • Grond is the maza that Morgoth used in the First Age against Fingolfin; and
  • Grond is also a great ariet used to break the Tirith Mine Gate during its siege in the Ring War; or
• Al Near optical and infrared detector of gamma-ray shoots, whose English acronym is GROND, an astronomical observation device that operates for the ESO in the observatory of La Silla in Chile.
