Greg Bear
Greg Bear (San Diego, California, August 20, 1951 – November 19, 2022), was an American science fiction writer. He was the son-in-law of another famous science fiction author, Poul Anderson.
Biography
Bear was a leading style-setting author of the 1980s. He was known for being one of the "three Bs" science fiction (along with Gregory Benford and David Brin). His work has won numerous awards, such as the Nebula Award in 1994 for Mars Moves and in 2000 for Darwin's Radio, and both the Hugo and the Nebula for Music in the blood, in 1984.
Bear's novels tend to have a very similar development: three apparently unconnected events occur in distant parts of the world and are the alarm signal of a process that generally ends up changing humanity, destroying it, or both; and she always does it from a hard science fiction perspective, trying to use well-founded and detailed scientific arguments as the main basis of the plots.
He was also a specialist in biochemistry-fiction and many of his novels contain advanced and rigorous hypothetical approaches to genetics.
In addition to those mentioned, other relevant works of his that could be highlighted are: Queen of Angels (1990), Alt 47 (1997), Foundation and Chaos (1998), Vitales (2001), and Darwin's Children (2003).
