Goya Station (Madrid Metro)
Goya is a station on lines 2 and 4 of the Madrid Metro located in the neighborhood of the same name in the Salamanca district, under the confluence of Calle Alcalá and Calle Goya, from which take his name. This street takes its name from the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya. The platforms of line 4 have copies of engravings by Goya.
History
The platforms of line 2 were inaugurated on June 14, 1924 and put into service two days later, forming part of the first section of the line between Sol and Ventas. On September 17, 1932, the line branches, creating the Goya-Diego de León section, so that of all the trains that arrived at this station, half circulated to Ventas and the other half to Diego de León.
On March 23, 1944, the first section of line 4 was inaugurated, between the Argüelles and Goya stations.
On October 2, 1958, it was reformed, so that line 2, which had a branch from this station, lost it when the section was ceded to line 4.
It has been recently renovated with the placement of yellow stained glass panels and the installation of elevators.
On April 1, 2017, the special hours for all lobbies that closed at 9:40 p.m. were eliminated, along with the absence of personnel in said lobbies.
The platforms of line 4 were closed between January 13 and March 6, 2020 due to works on the line. The service on line 2 was provided without alterations.
