Gonzalo Colsa
Gonzalo Colsa Albendea (Ramales de la Victoria, Cantabria, Spain; April 2, 1979) is a Spanish former soccer player, coach and politician. He played as a midfielder and his last team as assistant coach was Sociedad Deportiva Ponferradina.He currently directs the youth team of Real Racing Club de Santander, a team in which he played most of his career and which plays in the Second Division of Spain.
Career
He began his professional career in the sporting world in the Racing subsidiary team until the middle of the 1997-98 season when he became part of the first team. He debuted in first class on February 22, 1998 in the Real Club Deportivo Mallorca 2-Racing 1 match. With Racing de Santander he played four seasons, although he spent six months on loan at Club Deportivo Logroñés, until in 2001 he signed for Atlético de Madrid where he played one season, achieving promotion to first class for this club.
The following season he was loaned to Valladolid, where he played 37 league games and scored five goals, and in the following season he did so for Mallorca, playing 32 league games, scoring three goals with this team, he also played 5 Cup games. UEFA.
In 2004 he returned to Atlético de Madrid and in his last season in this team, 2005-06, he played 15 league games, scoring a goal.
In the 2006-07 season he returned to his home team, Racing, where he played until 2012.
Since the middle of the 2006-07 season, and until the end of the 2007-08 season, he has played in all the official matches played, either as a starter or as a substitute, and in the second season of this stage he has managed to reach the semifinals of the Copa del Rey and qualification for the UEFA Cup, both unprecedented achievements in the history of Racing.
In the 2008-09 season he was one of the captains of the racing team. In this season he wears a P on his shirt in tribute to his father Pepe who died the previous year. This season he played great games, being eliminated with his club in the UEFA league, but performing great individual actions, such as a goal from thirty meters against Paris Saint Germain. In 2009-10 he is once again one of the four captains of Racing. On January 21, 2010, he scored a goal similar to the one he scored against PSG, which helped Racing beat Osasuna 2-1 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinals.
On July 7, 2012, the player signed for CD Mirandés in the 2012-13 season. His time at C. D. Mirandés ended when he terminated his contract in the winter market, playing a total of 105 minutes, in official competition.
Recognitions
In his name, on May 29, 2008, a club was founded in his town, called "Peña Racinguista de Ramales Gonzalo Colsa", with the assistance of the same player and Pedro Munitis in the municipal library., the mayor of Ramales, the president of Racing, Francisco Pernía and other racing authorities. On August 17, 2008, said club presented the trophy to the most outstanding player of the campaign.
On October 27, 2008 he was awarded the Chisco Trophy.
National team
He was international with the youth teams of the Spanish soccer team. He was also called up to the Cantabria soccer team on several occasions.
