Goniothalamus is a genus of plants in the Annonaceae family. They have a Paleotropical distribution.

Description

They are erect trees or shrubs with a short petiole. Axillary or extra-axillary inflorescences. Pedicel bracteolate at the base. Sepals 3, valvate. Petals 6, in 2 whorls, with each whorl valvate; outer petals flat, thick; small inner petals. Stamens many. subsessile to slightly stipitated, oblong-ellipsoidal or ovoid monocarp fruits. Seeds 1-10 per monocarp.

Taxonomy

The genus was described by (Blume) Hook. F. & Thomson and published in Flora Indica: being a systematic account of the plants.. 105. 1855.
