Glóin is a fictional character from the novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, set in the fantasy world of Middle-earth Created by J.R.R. Tolkien. He is a noble member of the dwarven race, a member of the House of Durin.

Glóin was born in 2783 T.E. and died in 15 C.E.. He was one of the twelve dwarf companions of Thorin and the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. He was the son of Gróin, who in turn was the grandson of Borin, the youngest son of King Náin II, and therefore of direct descent to Durin I himself. Óin, another of Thorin's companions, was the brother of he. In The Lord of the Rings Glóin participated in the Council of Elrond as a representative of the dwarves of the Lonely Mountain. His son Gimli would set out as a representative of the dwarves in the Company of the Ring.

Accommodations

The character of Glóin is played by Peter Hambleton in the trilogy based on The Hobbit directed by Peter Jackson.
