The Gaza Strip (in Arabic قطاع غزة Qiṭāʿ Ġazza or also Qita' Ghazzah, in Hebrew רצועת עזה Retzu'at 'Azza) is a narrow strip of land located in the Middle East, southwest of Israel and northeast of the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, and which together with the West Bank forms the so-called Palestinian Territories. It has an 11 km border with Egypt, in the city of Rafah, and a 51 km border with Israel; It also has 40 km of coastline on the Mediterranean.

The Gaza Strip has a temperate climate, due to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. It has flat terrain with dunes near the coast, its highest point being Abu 'Awdah (Joz Abu 'Auda), 105 meters above sea level.
