Fundidora Park
The Parque Fundidora is a public park located in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, and is located on the land occupied by the company Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey from 1900 to 1986.
The park is located in the former Obrera neighborhood to the east of downtown Monterrey, bordered to the south by Constitución Avenue, to the north by Madero Avenue, to the east by Antonio I. Villarreal Avenue and to the west by Av. Fundidora. It has accesses located mainly on Av. Madero and Av. Fundidora.
The park is accessible and can be reached in several ways: walking from the Macroplaza through Paseo Santa Lucía; using the Monterrey metro arriving at the Parque Fundidora and Y Griega stations that border the park; by car and urban transportation along Avenida Madero and Avenida Fundidora, which have multiple accesses and parking spaces.
History
On May 5, 1900, Compañía Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey, S.A. was established, a manufacturing center where the first blast furnace in Latin America was installed. The company became federal property in 1977, until its bankruptcy in 1986, two years later, after having been declared financially insolvent, in 1988 the Fundidora Trust was created whose purpose is to manage the park. Currently, the Fundidora Park is considered a decentralized public body.
La Fundidora Monterrey was a steel company created in 1900 at the initiative of Vicente Ferrara, León Signoret, Eugenio Kelly and Antonio Basagoiti, who were among the first to glimpse the potential of the state of Nuevo León as a steel producer. The first blast furnace in Latin America was installed there. In 1977 the company operated at its maximum capacity and produced up to 100,000 tons of steel per year, reaching the goal of one million tons of steel shortly before its closure. Blast furnace number three was declared a protected monument by a heritage law and is preserved in the Park.
Origins


The guidelines to follow after the closure of Fundidora Monterrey, S.A. They consisted of liquidating workers and employees of the company. Subsequently, the procedures were carried out to determine the usefulness that the land and facilities of the extinct Fundidora would have, for which the president of Mexico, Miguel de la Madrid, did not hesitate to transfer them to the government of the State of Nuevo León for the creation of a Park. Ecological. The first actions were the dismantling process to create spaces that would give the option to plant trees and established buildings.
In July 1989, a Master Plan for the creation of the Fundidora Park was accepted by the Secretariat of Urban Development and Ecology, from which other master plans emerged that contributed to increasing the tourist, cultural and leisure offer to the Monterrey community with the construction of the Exhibition Center today known as CINTERMEX (International Business Center), a children's Baseball Park to host the little leagues of the State of Nuevo León, restoration of the buildings of the Old Adolfo Prieto School and the Recreativa Steel, designed for social and cultural events; the Monterrey Arena, a five-star hotel, an amusement fair, an open-air theater and a Historical Archive of Fundidora.
With the result obtained, in the opening of said projects, on February 24, 2001, the Fundidora Park managed to achieve its maximum transformation by being declared a Site Museum of Industrial Archeology, with its historical tradition as the main element ready to serve of the community.
Within the 2003-2009 administration, the State Development Plan contemplated the integration of the Fundidora Park with the Macroplaza through the second section "Fundidora II" in which an extension of 28 additional hectares was added. In addition, new attractions were inaugurated such as the Melting Ice Rink, La Casa de los Loros, the Horno 3 Steel Museum, the 'El Crisol' pier, the Women's Walk, the Macroparking lot and the Exhibition Center Foundry, former warehouse of the Lewis Combination Mill.
Likewise, on July 10, 2006, the Law that created the Decentralized Public Organization, called Parque Fundidora, O.P.D., was published in the Official Newspaper of the Federation, so on October 31 of the same year, it ceased to exist. operate administratively as Fideicomiso Parque Fundidora. With this, Fundidora Park achieved its maximum transformation by becoming an ideal place for recreation for Nuevo León families, an important tourist attraction, a place for various shows, popular festivals, festivals, bands and concerts; a lung for the city and above all a transcendent facility for Nuevo León, where our identity, awareness and knowledge of our industrial history are strengthened.
News

The Fundidora Park is considered a Museum of Industrial Archeology Site, it was created with the intention of offering the families of Nuevo León a place of rest, where they can practice sports, as well as an offer of entertainment, recreational activities training, business meetings, commercial gateways and cultural and artistic promotion.
It has an art cinema known as the Nuevo León Cinematheque, a picture gallery with two exhibition halls, a media library, a children's workshop and a theater with capacity for 350 people, an interactive museum on the origin of steel which has exhibition area and a viewpoint where you can see the center of Monterrey.
One of the most attractive and visited sites in Fundidora Park is Horno 3, currently considered the only furnace open to the public in the world....
Facilities

After a very important generation work was done, a series of walkways and streets were built to facilitate the journey within it. In the facilities, spaces for pedestrian distribution, recreation and rest were created, such as squares that allow connections of streets, networks and pedestrian distribution centers. Within the facilities is the Plaza de los Visionarios where tribute is paid to the men who had the initiative to create that company, more than a century ago.
The Plaza Grúa Portal has an area of 3,200 m² where you can see the enormous bridge crane of blast furnace number 3, now converted into the steel museum. Plaza B.O.F' which means (Basic Oxygen Furnace) and Lake Aceración, which constitute one of the most impressive areas of the site, where the old chimneys of the steel department and the enormous Lake Aceración, which occupies 2.4 ha, are located. but it is not the only body of water in the park, since there is another lake within the facilities, it is called Raje. The pit is an expression of construction workers, which refers to the action of opening a pit, this was created in 1950, after an intervention in the ground in search of a spring. Another interesting place is the blast furnace plaza No. 3, located behind what was the blast furnace installation and which serves as the entrance hall to the Foundry auditorium.
In the facilities there is another plaza, this is that of blast furnace No. 1, this place was declared a relevant Historical Site by the American Society for Metals, where you can see different structures and equipment, such as auxiliary equipment, the five preheating stoves, the brick chimney and the blowing mills warehouse.

Cintermex

The Monterrey International Business Center (better known as CINTERMEX) is currently considered a symbol of the City of Monterrey for its contribution to the business development of Monterrey. Its uses are as a convention center, exhibition and business center. Its Convention and Exhibition Center hosts more than 600 events per year from conferences and meetings, to consumer and industrial exhibitions, and welcomes 4 million visitors per year. Cintermex has a restaurant inside known as 'La Arcada'. Cintermex is divided into five spaces:
- Exterior terrace with view of the Parque Fundidora
- Interior terrace
- Main area with bar service
- Bar area and à la carte service (international food)
- A private room for 10 people called 1800.
Paseo Santa Lucía
The Paseo Santa Lucía is a canal or artificial river and pedestrian path that is located in the first square of the city. The work (inspired by the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas) was inaugurated on September 16, 2007 on the occasion of the 2007 Universal Forum of Cultures that took place in Monterrey in its second edition from September 20 to December 8 of 2007.
The Paseo connects the Macroplaza and the Fundidora Park, and its main attraction is its channel with a depth of 1.20 meters through which small boats with capacity for 40 people navigate, accompanied by a guide. The Paseo, whose docks are located next to the Museum of Mexican History and in Fundidora Park, is adorned by 24 fountains and several sculptural works. One of the most important is the monumental sculpture 'La Lagartera', by the Oaxacan artist Francisco Toledo, installed in the water mirror of the Paseo, in front of the Museum of Mexican History. The work is a rectangular piece in high relief, which depicts the swimming of several lizards on a surface of scales at different scales, from which frogs, fish, crabs, turtles and lizards emerge. This work is the first large format sculpture made by the author. Another relevant sculpture is an original inukshuk, one of the five Inuit works that the Canadian government has donated to five cities in the world.
Monterrey Arena

It is mainly used for concerts, shows and indoor sports such as fast football and basketball. Home of the fast soccer team Flash from Monterrey. The Monterrey Arena has the infrastructure capable of holding up to 150 events a year, which attract around two million attendees:
- Events per year: 150 sports, cultural, musical and social events.
- Levels: Heaven, Gold, Platinum, General, Administration, Basement, Cancha.
- Parking: 900 exclusive drawers and more than 1200 drawers available in the park.
The activity at the Monterrey Arena focuses on the following types of events: sports, cultural, concerts, world-class conventions and exhibitions, and private events.
Citizen Tower

The owner of the tower is the Government of the State of Nuevo León, since the use of this building is for government offices. Some characteristics of this building are:
- Height: 180 meters.
- Number of floors: 36.
Currently it is the second tallest building in the city of Monterrey and the fourth in its metropolitan area.
Sesame Street Park
This park was inaugurated in 1995. It has different play spaces:
- Aquamundo, with water attractions like: Merry River, Aquaventuras, Locobogans, Flash and Superflash, Quick & Super-Apiciousamong others.
- Isla Aventura, where you will find: Plains, Asoleadero, Mar Aventura and Mar Bucaneros.
- Villasésamo, with games like Space Shot, Ovni, Bubbles, Tornado, Conde Conde Contar Castle, etc.

La Capital Building
The La Capital building was inaugurated in 2013. It is located on Washington Street in the center of Monterrey. This building has apartments and the ground floor with a shopping center.
Banamex Auditorium

It is a closed property located within the Fundidora Park in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, and is currently considered one of the most functional venues for performing shows in Mexico. Since its reopening in September 2010, it has hosted a large number of national and international events.
Some of the events that were presented during 2010 at Auditorio Banamex included Kiss, Chayanne, Bunbury, Premios Oye!, Miguel Bosé, Camila, Calamaro, among others, while 2011 hosted successful events such as Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias, Iron Maiden, Luis Miguel, Rammstein, Zoé, Interpol, The Strokes, Slayer, Caifanes, Alejandra Guzmán y Moderatto, Gloria Trevi, Duelo y Encuentro Mundial de Valores, among many others.
2012 has so far seen, among others, The Kooks, Apocalyptica, Anthrax, Bob Dylan, Emmanuel, Franco de Vita, Yuri, La Leyenda, Pesado, Los Claxons, the impressive international shows A Muse, The Illusionists and Fire of Anatolia, and the crowded returns of Vicente Fernández, Duel and Bunbury, the latter being the godfather of the second anniversary of the Auditorium, presenting their Licensed Cantinas tour to a completely packed building. In 2013, the world-renowned Mexican singer Lila Downs and the famous youth group The Jonas Brothers were present at said Auditorium.
Without a doubt a successful start for Auditorio Banamex, a multifunctional venue that continues to present the most important shows in the city for all audiences, in a comfortable, safe and world-class way.
Events
The Pal Norte festival and the Machaca Fest are held every year in Fundidora Park. It is known as the largest cantina in Monterrey where at events they charge 200
