Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a graphic adventure created in 1995 by LucasArts for PC DOS and Macintosh, designed by Tim Schafer. Set in the near future, the game follows the story of Ben, an American biker accused of a crime. The game was recognized for its polished finish and immersive plot, but was criticized due to its short length and ease. Even so, it eventually became a cult video game within its genre.

A remastered version of the game was developed by Tim Shafer's studio, Double Fine Productions.

Game interface

Similar to the other LucasArts games, Full Throttle is a single-player adventure game, in which the user takes control of the main character from a third-person perspective using the mouse to navigate the interface.

The game continues the LucasArts dynamic in terms of adventure gaming systems and uses the SCUMM engine. As a novelty, it included an actions menu that appeared when clicking on the secondary mouse button on objects. Among the actions, in addition to the usual ones such as see, others such as threaten or kick were included. The animation of the intermediate scenes is, for its time, of very good quality, which, together with its soundtrack created by the motorcycle gang The Gone Jackals, gives the game a cinematic atmosphere.

Argument

The story focuses on Ben, the leader of a biker gang who call themselves "Los Turones" (The Polecats). Malcolm Corley, the CEO and founder of the country's latest motorcycle company approaches Ben at a bar to make him an offer. When Ben rejects her he is knocked out and put in a dumpster by the henchmen of Adrian Ripburger, the sinister vice president of Corley Motors, who is determined to take over the company. After waking up and leaving the dump, Ben attempts to contact the rest of his gang, whose members Ripburger has tricked into escorting his limousine to his destination at the annual shareholders meeting.

Ben follows his steps on his motorcycle until he discovers that it has been sabotaged by Ripburger's henchmen. After the accident, a mechanic named Mo picks him up and helps him.

Ben manages to locate his gang just in time to witness the murder of Corley at the hands of Ripburger who intends to frame them for the crime. As a fugitive, he is forced to cross the desert to find a way to clear his name, save his gang, and prevent Ripburger, who has already assumed the presidency of Corley Motors, from changing the direction of the company. production of mini trucks.

Ben crosses paths with other motorcycle gangs: Los Buitres (The Vultures), a female gang addicted to speed, the brutal Rottwheelers (Rompellantas) and the enigmatic "Cave Fish" (Cavefish). Ben manages to make it to the shareholders meeting in time to catch Ripburger, announcing his new control and his plan for the company. He and Mo denounce Ripburger as a murderer and pass on Malcolm Corley's last will and testament naming Mo as the successor in management of the company. Ben and the rest of his gang are cleared of charges.
