Freud, secret passion
Freud, Secret Passion is a 1962 film directed by John Huston. Its original English title is simply Freud, although it is also known as Freud: The Secret Passion.
This film tells us about the first efforts of Sigmund Freud to get them to accept his theories. Montgomery Clift plays the father of psychoanalysis.
The film is based on a script written by Jean-Paul Sartre, who resigned from the project and asked that his name be removed from the credits. Sartre disagreed with the cuts and modifications that were made to the original manuscript. This was too long, and the filmmakers had no idea what short film series are now, the format for which, unknown to himself, Sartre's work was written.
Plot
This pseudo-biographical film chronicles the life of Sigmund Freud (Montgomery Clift) from 1885 to 1890, starting at a time when most of his colleagues had given up on their efforts to cure hysteria, believing that it was it is a false disease, used as a pretext to attract attention. A statement that will be refuted when Freud begins to treat his patients with hypnosis successfully, but everything will change when his mentor, Dr. Joseph Breuer (Larry Parks) introduces him to a man with neuroses and nightmares, which Freud will be forced to cure. Task that he will complicate from his career to his marriage and his personal life.
