Richard Frank Oznowicz, better known as Frank Oz (Hereford, United Kingdom, May 25, 1944), is a British nationalized film director, actor and puppeteer. American.

Biography

She was born in Hereford, UK to Polish-Dutch parents and she Belgian. Her father was Jewish and her mother was Catholic. Oz moved to California, United States with her parents when she was five years old.

Oz began working with puppets at the age of 12. He joined Jim Henson's team of puppeteers seven years later and gradually became Henson's closest collaborator, on the children's television series Sesame Street , The Muppets and his movies. So Oz is the one who has given life to characters as endearing as Miss Piggy the pig, Fozzie the bear, Beto, Archibaldo and the Cookie Monster, among others.

He has directed several feature films, including co-directing the fantasy film The Dark Crystal (1982).

Getting to stretch beyond the world of The Muppets, he made a stylized musical remake of Little Shop of Horrors (1986), which proved his verve as a filmmaker. Since then he has directed more conventional comedies such as Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988), What About Bob? (1991), and Surprise Wife (1992).

Oz made cameos in four John Landis films: The Blues Brothers (1980), An American Werewolf in London (1981), Trading Places (1983) and Spies like us (1985).

Another of his best-known jobs was giving life to Yoda, the wise Jedi Master from Star Wars, to whom Frank Oz gave voice and movement (in Episodes V and VI, in Episode I he worked with a younger model of Yoda, Episode II and III was created digitally).
