Frank Iero
Frank Anthony Iero, Jr. (Belleville, New Jersey; October 31, 1981) is an American musician, known for being the guitarist of the band My Chemical Romance, as well as the vocalist of the bands Pencey Prep, Leathermouth and Death Spells. Iero has also started punk projects as a solo artist, and has published the albums Stomachaches (2014) and Parachutes (2016); His third album, Barriers , was published in May 2019, the year in which a South American tour and a North American tour were held.
Biography
Childhood
Iero was born in the town of Belleville, New Jersey, but grew up in the town of Kearny. He is the only child of Linda (maiden name, Pricolo) and Frank Iero, Sr. His parents separated when he was three years old., but they did not divorce until four years later, when Iero was seven. While his father moved to Trenton, southern New Jersey, Iero remained in Kearny with his mother. As a child he suffered from numerous seizures. of bronchitis and ear infections, consequently, he spent much of his childhood in the hospital. Iero is also lactose intolerant and has other allergies to various foods. He attended a Catholic school during his youth, and later Rutgers University in New Brunswick on a scholarship, but later dropped out to tour with My Chemical Romance.[citation needed]
His father and grandfather are drummers, so Frank frequently saw them play, or listened to them talk about the presentations they would do, which influenced Frank to have a great interest in music. During his childhood he played the saxophone for a while, and then the guitar.
First projects
He has played in numerous bands since he was eleven years old, among which Hybrid or Sector 12 can be mentioned, and later he was the vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Pencey Prep, formerly known as I Am a Graveyard, who came to release their first studio album called Heartbreak in stereo, in 2001.
My Chemical Romance
Iero was a college student and played in the band Pencey Prep; It was then that his band had to share the recording room of the Eyeball Records label with My Chemical Romance. The band Pencey Prep broke up and Frank joined My Chemical Romance. When he joined the band, they had already started recording their first album, I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love, so Iero only played two songs on this album: “ Honey, this mirror isn't big enough for the two of us” and “Early sunsets over Monroeville”, although it appears in the video for “Vampires will never hurt you”. In the song “Mama” from his third album, his mother Linda Pricolo does background vocals, and his father Frank & # 34; Cheech & # 34; Iero plays percussion on the song “Welcome to the Black Parade.” In February 2008, due to the death of his grandmother to whom he was very attached, he was forced to abandon the My Chemical Romance tour in South America, so he only managed to play at the concerts held in Brazil and was unable to do so. in Argentina, Chile or Venezuela, being replaced by Matt Cortez. At the end of 2008 he participated as bassist on Reggie and the Full Effect's Farewell Tour.
Death Spells
After the separation of My Chemical Romance, Frank Iero announced on his website, and later in an interview, the formation of a new electronic hardcore band called Death Spells, consisting of him as singer and James Dewees (The Get Up Kids, Reggie and the Full Effect) in the "noises", so called by Iero himself on his website.
Death Spells began publishing demos of their songs: excerpts of around one minute and twenty each, which they uploaded to the SoundCloud page. They also confirmed a tour with Mindless Self Indulgence and future plans for recording a studio album.
Solo career
In September 2012, he contributed the song "This song is a curse" to the iTunes soundtrack of the film Frankenweenie, directed by Tim Burton.
On the night of June 8, 2013, Iero performed a new acoustic song, called "Stage four: fear of success", live during the recording of a podcast in Brooklyn. Later, on September 3, played—in addition to the one already mentioned—two other new songs, at the A&M Music Center in Lyndhurst (New Jersey): "Joyriding." and a third song with an unknown title. A demo of “Joyriding.” It is available on the singer's SoundCloud page.
In December 2013, Iero published his first solo EP, titled For Jamia..., which contains two songs covered by him: "Be my baby" by The Ronettes (1963) and "Walk the line" by Johnny Cash (1964). The album was released as a digital download and on seven-inch vinyl records, limited to four hundred units.
Since January 2014, Iero's new solo song, entitled "2.5 mg just ain't enough for me", is available on the internet, which is part of a compilation album of charity published on February 25 of the same year. On this last date, a single by Frank Iero, titled "B. F. F.", containing songs from his twin daughters Lily and Cherry, and letters composed by him along with Lily.
In 2014 he published his album Stomachaches, under the name frnkiero andthe cellabration (sic), and in 2016 he published the album Parachutes, with his project called Frank Iero and the Patience.
During March and April 2019, he was a telon of Taking Back Sunday by the United States. Then, at the end of April 2019, he toured South America with concerts in Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, and then began his American tour. These presentations were made under the name Frank Iero and the Future Violents.
Personal life
Iero has been vegetarian since he's a child after learning about the abuse of animals in slaughterhouses and breeding farms. On 5 February 2007, Iero married his girlfriend Jamia Nestor, after being committed on 25 May 2006. On August 4, 2010, Frank and Jamia became parents of two twins, called Cherry and Lily. On April 6, 2012, his third son, called Miles, was born.
