It was founded by King Alfonso VI of León at the end of the XI century with the category of Villa, reaching a population of 1600 inhabitants. With the loss of Riba-Coa by León in 1297, it became a border town, since until then the Luso-Leonese border was located on the Coa river. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Casillas de Flores was included in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region. In the 1960s XX the exploitation of uranium and tin mines began in the vicinity of the town, now abandoned but which led to the population doubling.
