History
This station belongs to the fourth section of the line inaugurated on July 1, 1914, which linked this station and Plaza de Mayo, originally receiving the name Caballito.
From here the trains leave for the Taller Polvorín where maintenance is done, traveling through the streets Emilio Mitre, Hortiguera and the < i>Directory Avenue on the surface. This same route is used on weekends and holidays by the Historic Tramway of Buenos Aires, a two-kilometer educational trip aboard restored trams provided by the Friends of the Tram Association that evokes the tram system that It toured the city until 1963.
The project for the future line I contemplates a combination between both lines at this station. The maneuvering queue is original, since it is separated between the sides of the exit ramp to the outside, where in the past the tram that continued the A left. These two underground lateral maneuvering queues are the ones that are currently being used to join the nodes of both tunnels the new tunnels coming from the west of the new extension of line A.
The name of the station pays tribute to the first national government that emerged after the May Revolution. The First Board was chaired by Cornelio Saavedra and was made up of illustrious figures such as Manuel Belgrano, Mariano Moreno and Juan José Paso.
From the inauguration of the Puán and Carabobo stations, the platform that was only used as a garage began to be used for the formations heading to Plaza de Mayo, while the platform that was used until then was only used for those formations heading towards San Pedrito. Sometimes, a train coming from the Acoyte station stops on the central platform, forcing passengers who continue the trip to San Pedrito to get off and wait for the next train to continue the route.
