Fiona (her real name is Fiona Eileen Flanagan) born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, September 13, 1961) is a singer, businesswoman and actress in films such as "Hearts of Fire", in 1987 with Bob Dylan.

Biography

Of Irish descent, Fiona was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey after her parents moved from Dublin, Ireland to the United States. Raised in a traditionally Catholic family, right from childhood she was inclined to traditional Irish music, and even learned to play the clarinet at school. Even when she was awarded a grant to the University School of Theater in New York, she decided on a musical career.

His musical career

Their most outstanding Hits are "Talk to Me" from the first album, "Hopelessly Love You" and "Living In A Boy's World" from the album Beyond The Pale, "Everything you Do (You're Sexing me)" (a duet with Kip Winger) and "Where The Cowboys Go" from the album "Heart Like a Gun" and "Hearts of Fire"soundtrack from the film "Hearts of Fire" (which features 4 previously unreleased songs from the remastered Beyond The Pale).

The recordings she introduced to Atlantic with “The Dixie Dregs”, and the mediation of producer Jason Flom, made it possible for her to be signed to this record company. She then participates in the soundtrack of the film “No small affair”, with the theme “Love makes you blind”. Which would also be included on her self-titled debut album & # 34; Fiona & # 34; 1985, along with her first hit "Talk to me."

He undertook his first major American tour opening for Bryan Adams. And from that time there are two commercially unreleased vinyl recordings, one by the "WestWood One Radio Concerts", the radio broadcasting rights for Europe are owned by "MediaLane International", and another by the "King Biscuit Flower Hour" recorded in Halendale, Florida; Both are collector's items.

His second LP "Beyond the pale" 1986, explores new sounds, providing an unusual aesthetic in rock records at the production level. We can also find it in soundtracks like the one from the movie "Quicksilver", with a song titled "Casual thing"; and he is also part of the cast of artists that intervene in the music of the film "Johnny B. Good", with the song "If there´s any justice".

In episode 35 of Miami Vice Season Two "The Rules of the Game / Yankee Dollar", he appears as an extra for a brief moment.

She was heard on Howard Stern's radio shows, where she starred in some of the most brilliant interventions such as "Fiona Dial-A-Date". She is also a guest on shows on MTV and ABC-TV.

Fiona then appears on the big and small screen. She is hired to act in an episode of the series "Miami Vice", titled "Little miss dangerous", and where she gives life to the character of Jackie McSeidan, broadcast in 1986. And hand in hand by Richard Marquand, she plays Molly Mcguire in the film "Hearts of Fire", along with Bob Dylan and Rupert Everett (1987), editing the soundtrack in which we can find 5 of her songs, in addition to the face B of the single, with a bonus track called "Carry on". In that same year, she was proposed to star in the film "Light of Day", along with Michael J. Fox, a project that she could not accept due to lack of time, being replaced by Joan Jett.

Their third album "Heart like a gun" 1989, contains a duet with Kip Winger on the track "Everything you do", the face of this single is a bonus track titled "Calling on you". Her video clip reached a large audience on MTV, and earned her an appearance in Metal Head video magazine in 1990.

In 1991 we can find her doing a fleeting collaboration in the film "The doors" by Oliver Stone, in just a few seconds we see her in the audience, even so she appears in the final credits as & # 34; Fog groupie & # 34;.

For his latest album "Squeeze" 1992, with the collaboration of her friend Laura McDonald and Jimmy Degrasso on drums ex-White Lion, Megadeth and Suicidal Tendencies signed by Geffen by the hand of John Kalodner. It is now intended to give Fiona a group identity, until now on her records studio musicians had appeared. This album was not distributed in Spain and marks the consolidation of her AOR style.

Marriage

Shortly after the release of Beyond The Pale Fiona married her producer Beau Hill, known for producing bands like Ratt, Warrant and Winger, among other bands.

End of his artistic career

In 1993, he announced the end of his artistic career, focused on his family, finished his business university studies and worked for a while at a well-known firm, but outside the musical circle.

Respawns

Today, he is officially represented by Coallier Entertainment, he has offered some performances in clubs in 2003, and there is no clear news about his return to the music scene. All his records have been out of print until in 2004, to the joy of many, the first two have been reissued on CD by Woundedbird Records for the USA; the others are still not available in stores.

There are other records of Fiona in collaborations with other artists: Dweezil Zappa, Aldo Nova, Steve Stevens (Ex - Vince Neil and Billy Idol guitarist), Julian Lennon..., notable is the appearance in 2003 of the song &# 34;Lose the night" on a Jack Ponti CD entitled "Vol. I", which rescues old demos by this composer. Her collaboration with the group Evolution on the song Lights is perhaps the most current recording we have of Fiona.

On a special night in 2003, on August 3rd, Fiona joined the band Kyla offering her special voice at The Kell's (NYC) pub. Her next show with them was set for March 18, 2004 at the Hog & Heifers Uptown NYC.
