Final Fantasy VII: Last Order
Final Fantasy VII: Last Order (Final Fantasy VII: The last order or the last order) is an OVA (Original Video Animation) included in the collector's edition of the movie "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" for Japan.
Final Fantasy VII: Last Order is part of the video game company Square Enix's project called Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, whose objective is to complete and expand the story of Final Fantasy VII, a video game released in 1997 for PlayStation.
Just 20 minutes long, it tells what happened approximately 4 years before the plot of the popular game "Final Fantasy VII". Specifically, the events that occurred in Nibelheim, Tifa and Cloud's hometown and where Sephirot discovers his true origin.
The animation is very well done and although some parts of the story are changed slightly, the OVA is considered a good extra for Final Fantasy fans.
The story takes place almost entirely in Nibelheim, with some slight modifications to the story, but nothing major.
Plot
The OVA "Last Order" tells the events that occur approximately 4 years before "Final Fantasy VII", when two ShinRa Soldiers, Zack Fair and Cloud Strife, escape from the company's research laboratories. At the same time, the different characters remember how these events are related to a disaster that occurred 3 years earlier (7 years before Final Fantasy VII) in Nibelheim.
Zack carries Cloud on his back, since due to the degree of experimentation he suffered, he has been left in a coma. When they are intercepted by ShinRa soldiers, Zack defends Cloud. The 'Turks', ShinRa's special operations unit, send Reno and Rude to take charge of the situation. At this point, Tseng, the leader of the Turks, ponders how Zack and Cloud have been affected by the life of a missing Soldier: the legendary Sephiroth.
Years before, during a ShinRa investigation in Nibelheim, Sephiroth and Zack were sent with a group of soldiers, Cloud among them, to his hometown, Nibelheim, to check the Mako Reactor there that was creating monsters. For some reason, Sephiroth becomes violent and attacks the town leading to the well-known scene where he turns his back, surrounded by the fire in which the town burns.
Returning to the present, Zack leaves Cloud protected by his weapon, the Buster Sword, while he attacks the Soldiers, who are unable to respond to him either at long or short range. Zack pretends to escape, but goes to get a vehicle to pick up Cloud; At that moment the Turks appear and offer Zack the possibility of voluntarily surrendering so as not to be hurt. Zack cries out that he wants his freedom.
Years before, during the attack on Nibelheim, Tifa, who was a native of that place, found her father dead near the Mako reactor. She had been the guide for ShinRa on the expedition, and upon seeing this she began to hate Sephiroth, the Soldiers, ShinRa... everything. Tifa chases Sephiroth and tries to attack him but is seriously injured. Zack arrives at that place, who tries to understand why Sephiroth is acting so strange. Sephiroth cries out that he is coming for 'his Mother', and that together they are going to take back the world since they are, according to data found in Nibelheim, the last of the 'Cetra', ancient race that populated the Planet. Sephiroth calls humans "traitors" since they attacked the Cetra and imprisoned the "mother"; Then a fight occurs between Zack and Sephiroth in which he emerges victorious but fails to eliminate Zack.
While Sephiroth concentrates on freeing the mother, "JENOVA", he is attacked from behind --- it is Cloud, who cries out that he wants his family back. and to his people. After leaving Sephiroth badly injured, Cloud goes after Tifa, whom he promised in childhood to always take care of. Zack asks Cloud to eliminate Sephiroth, but he is too powerful. When Cloud is impaled on a wall by Sephiroth's sword, only with the help of his will he manages to force the sword and turn the movement to attack Sephiroth, who does not give importance to the matter, and, taking JENOVA's head, jumps of the reactor to fall into the "Flow of Life". After the events, Hojo of the ShinRA Science Department orders that Zack and Cloud be taken prisoner for his experiments.
Back in the present, Zack meets Cloud in a van heading to Midgar, the main city. Zack argues with Cloud about what they will do when they get to the city to earn money, although Cloud does not answer for his condition. The Turks are following them, but some soldiers arrive first and decide that they don't want the Turks to take all the credit. Just then, Zack feels something strange, and shouts to Cloud: "Cloud, run!". The screen goes black and a simple gunshot is heard.
