Fernando III University
The CEU Fernando III University is a private university located in Seville, Andalusia (Spain). Its name pays homage to King Ferdinand the Saint.
History
On September 5, 2006, the Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía approved the Bill of Recognition of the Fernando III University, whose Draft Law had been initiated for processing on May 10, 2005, and the On March 21, 2007, the Andalusian Parliament approved the Law for the Recognition of the Fernando III University. It was to have three venues:
- Rectorate in Seville on Trajano Street, 35.
- Campus of Cordoba in the street Writer Castilla Aguayo, 4.
- Campus of Bormujos (province of Seville) on Maimonides Street.
The project was managed by the Fundación Universidad Fernando III, a foundation promoted by the Fundación San Pablo Andalucía (CEU) (a foundation created, in turn, by the Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU and the Archdiocese of Seville) and by the Society of Jesus. On July 11, 2009, the intention to abandon the idea of creating the University was announced due to differences between the San Pablo Andalucía Foundation (CEU) and ETEA (Society of Jesus), deciding the Society of Jesus to go ahead on its own with the creation of the Loyola Andalusia University.
In 2022, the San Pablo CEU University Foundation resumes the project and the Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía approves the start of the legislative process of recognition of the CEU Fernando III University, initially on the Bormujos campus, in Seville, with later development throughout Andalusia. Its owner will be the CEU Fernando III El Santo University Foundation, a social initiative entity.
The Fernando III University will have two centers: the Faculty of Business and Legal Sciences, and the Higher Polytechnic School.
