Fernando Guillén Gallego (Barcelona, November 27, 1932-Madrid, January 17, 2013) was a Spanish film, theater, television and dubbing actor.

Biography

He was born in Barcelona in 1932. He completed high school at the Cardenal Cisneros Institute and began studying Law at the University of Madrid, participating in the Spanish University Theater, with which he staged Three Top Hats (1952) by Miguel Mihura and Squad towards death (1953), by Alfonso Sastre, along with other young talents such as Adolfo Marsillach, Agustín González and Juanjo Menéndez. He then abandoned his career to dedicate himself fully to acting.

His artistic career began in 1952. He performed with the companies of Fernando Fernán Gómez and Conchita Montes. Later he also formed his own company with his wife, the actress Gemma Cuervo, with whom he married in 1960 and from whose union the actors Fernando and Cayetana were also born, as well as another daughter, Natalia. The two later separated. In 2008, at the Calderón Theater in Valladolid, where he performed the play El waltz del adiós , he announced his retirement from the theater, at the age of 75.

In addition to theatre he has worked on television and cinema, where he started in 1953 with A lost dayJosé María Forqué. However, it was on television where he consolidated his career as an actor, debuting when he started in Spain, in 1958, with the adaptation of the work PesadillaWilliam Irish, under the orders of Juan Guerrero Zamora. In the programme Study 1 of TVE represented numerous works, as in space Novelalong with his wife Gemma Cuervo (Get up and fight, Marie Curie or The ghost of Doña Juanitaamong others). It was a common face in the series of filmmakers such as Adolfo Marsillach, Alberto González Vergel or Pilar Miró. Also his participation in the adaptation of José Zorrilla's work, Don Juan Tenoriowhich was interpreted on five occasions Study 1, being played the role of Don Juan by actors like Juan Diego and Carlos Larrañaga.

On television, The Saga of the Rius (1976), The Riders of the Dawn (1990) and the Telecinco intrigue series, Personal Reasons, also stand out. (2004), with Lydia Bosch and Concha Velasco.

On the radio he participated in the 1970s, in two radio soap operas with the great cast of actors from Radio Madrid, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy.

In the mid-1960s, he made incursion into the fold. He participated in dozens of papers folding, between Madrid and Barcelona, almost sporadicly. Among his most well-known folding papers, is: Omar Sharif in HidalgoCliff Robertson in the movies Spider-Man or Martin Landau in Offences and offencesamong others.

In cinema she participated regularly from the 80s and 90s, highlighting Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988) or All About My Mother (1998), both by Pedro Almodóvar. In addition to Almodóvar, Guillén has worked under José María Forqué, Eloy de la Iglesia, Pedro Lazaga, Fernando Fernán Gómez, Imanol Uribe and Gonzalo Suárez, among others.

He died on January 17, 2013 in Madrid at the age of 80 as a result of a long illness.

His late partner, Concepción Albalate, died two months after him.
