Far East
Far East or Far East designates a conventional geographical area located in the east of the Asian continent, made up of a number of countries with diverse cultures. Its inhabitants are often called "Orientals", "Far-Eastern" or "Far-Eastern". In human genetics, the region is often referred to as East Asia as opposed to West Asia. It is usually considered a macro-region consisting of the East Asia and Southeast Asia regions, but often also includes Siberia east and sometimes to the Indian subcontinent.
The United Nations-preferred names East Asia, Eastern Asia, and East Asia are considered more modern than the aforementioned Asian name,[citation needed]< /sup> that describes the region in terms of its geographical position in relation to Europe and not its relative location in Asia, but, nevertheless, according to some this term is not equivalent to that of East Asia, since they consider the meaning is different. A similar case occurred with the ancient Chinese, who called all those west of the Indies western countries (Tàixī, 泰西).
