Situation and geography
Fano is located to the southeast of the council of Gijón, marking the southern limit with the council of Siero, specifically with the parishes of La Collada and Muñó, to the west it borders with Lavandera, with Caldones to the north and finally with Valdornón to the east. this. With an extension of 4.5 km², the two geographical elements that define the configuration of the landscape and the distribution of the settlement of the parish are the Fano mountain, dominated by the Juín peak (439 m) and the Meredal stream (downstream of the Piles River).
Neighborhoods
- La Cuadra: It is the most populous neighborhood and is located north of the parish, most of its houses are located west of the AS-248 road and on the eastern side of Mount Fano.
- Fano: It is located in the west center and is crossed by the road AS-248, in this neighborhood is the Church of St.John Evangelista with its cemetery, the playground and the social center in the old schools of Fano.
- Carcedo (Carceo in Asturian): It is located in the center-west of Fano, on the skirt of the “Picu’l Juin”.
- Zalce: It is located south of the parish, bordering the council of Siero (La Collada and Muñó), sheltered by the Peña de Huergo in the south and by the Peña Carbonera and the Xigal in the west.
Parties
- La Candelera: It is celebrated on February 2nd or next Sunday. A mass with procession is made, then an auction is made
